Rose, Thorn, Bud
Reflect & share highs, lows, and hopes
👥 2–15 players⏱ 5–15 min
Objective
A lightweight reflection round — not a competition. Everyone shares a Rose (a recent highlight), a Thorn (a challenge or frustration), and a Bud (something they're looking forward to). The goal is shared understanding and a quick pulse-check on how the team is doing.
How to play
- The host creates a room and shares the join link; teammates join with just their name.
- The host opens the round. Each player privately writes their Rose, Thorn, and Bud.
- Players submit when ready; the host can see who has responded.
- Once everyone has submitted, the host reveals the responses and the team talks through them together.
Strategy
- Be specific — “Rose: shipped the billing fix that unblocked support” lands better than “good week”.
- A Thorn isn't a complaint box; frame it as something the team could help with.
- Use the Bud to surface upcoming risks or things you want backup on.
Tips
- Great as a meeting opener or a Friday wind-down.
- Keep each entry to a sentence so the readout stays snappy.
- Hosts: model vulnerability by sharing a real Thorn first.
Create a roomThe host picks the activity once everyone has joined the room.
